German Dance Platform 2006
Wednesday, 22 February – Sunday, 26 February 2006
Theaterhaus Stuttgart

The German Dance Platform was conceived as a forum for presenting current developments in contemporary German dance and is considered one of the most important dance events in Europe. In 2006, Stuttgart will be the host of the German Dance Platform and will provide guests from both Germany and abroad the possibility of experiencing a variety of productions over a comparatively compact period of time and to get caught up on the newest trends on the German dance scene. In addition, the Dance Platform is a forum for artists, events organisers and dance and arts professionals to meet and exchange ideas. Originally conceived as the preliminaries for the choreographic competition "Les Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis", the German Dance Platform has been an independent forum since 2002.

The German Dance Platform is held in different cities every two years. After the successful dance platform in Düsseldorf 2004 with a creative and lively festival atmosphere as well as 400 visitors from 37 countries and 15 companies presenting evening-length choreographies in sold-out theatres, the German Dance Platform 2006 will take place under the auspices of the Theaterhaus Stuttgart with its ideal festival location and four stages seating up to 1400 spectators.

The project direction for the 2006 festival will be in the hands of Bettina Milz (dramaturge, Stuttgart), Claudia Bauer (ecotopia dance productions, Ludwigsburg) and Meinrad Huber (curator for dance and theatre). Co-organisers are the tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf (Bertram Müller), euro-scene Leipzig (Ann-Elisabeth Wolff), JOINT ADVENTURES, Munich (Walter Heun), Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Frankfurt/ Main (Dieter Buroch), Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin (Bettina Masuch) and the tanzWerkstatt Berlin (André Thériault).

As in 2004, the selection for the up-coming programme will be decided on by a board of advisors: the dance researcher, author and journalist Gerald Siegmund, the media and dance specialist Madeline Ritter (tanz performance köln) and dramaturge Bettina Milz. The programme decisions will be announced in October 2005.
